At Menges & Curtis Apothecary, we have a tradition of mixing and preparing remedies that goes back over a century and a half.

It was with that spirit and time honored tradition, that pharmacist Michael Lenz created the Apothecary Essentials line of moisturizers back in 1989, with a formula created at Menges & Curtis Apothecary.

Customers had been coming into the pharmacy for years, dating back to the late 1970's, requesting some of the "miracle cream." Back then, the pharmacy staff would slap some hand cream in a pill vial and sell it to the customers for $1.00 for a 1oz. jar.

In 1989, Michael graduated from Pharmacy College and started working in the family pharmacy. He soon realized that this magic cream should be marketed to a wider audience, so he formed M&C Skin Care, Inc. and the Apothecary Essentials line was born.

Early on, only Hand Cream was available, but as demand grew, so did requests for other products. The Apothecary Essentials line now includes not only our Nourishing Hand Cream, but also our Hydrating Body Emulsion, Invigorating Foot Balm, Moisturizing Face Cream, and Rejuvenating Eye Treatment. In addition, Menges & Curtis also offers Soothing Bath Salts imported from the Dead Sea in Israel.
